Year 1 had a great time during their outdoor learning day. Throughout Literacy we had a word hunt to make sentences, built CVC words listening for beginning, middle and end sounds. We also looked through our topic books to find key words and sounds that we know. Numeracy was great as we got to use our new skill of understanding money. We counted 1p coins, added two items together to find the total in the farm shop. We also explored 1 to 1 counting using our ten and twenty frames. Year one have been learning about weight and our final Numeracy area allowed us to explore weight using the balance scales to weigh vegetables.
Our experiments were so much fun. We found out that eggs float in salty water but sink in normal water. We also carried out an experiment using food colouring, milk, soap and a q tip.
We finished our day with playtime building structures with the crates, cooking in the mud kitchen, exploring the garden and visiting our role play farm shop.
